The photos in this post are stock images rather than my own. We placed the orders only a few days ago and nothing has arrived yet. Every image here was chosen because it matches the Arhaus aesthetic I'm describing, not because it shows the exact pieces I bought.

A friend of mine got married this summer and moved in with her husband. Their situation is a little unusual. They both travel for work and they are gone more than half the year, sometimes for six or seven weeks at a stretch. So the last thing she wanted was to sink real money into furniture that would sit in a dark apartment while they were in another time zone.

But she also didn't want to walk through the door after three weeks away and feel nothing.

The material. Arhaus does not print stone onto board. If a piece looks like travertine in their catalog, it is travertine, and it weighs two hundred pounds and costs accordingly. This is the one that trips up most dupe lists, and it is why one of my two skips is what it is.

How I picked these Arhaus dupes

My rules going in, since I was being paid and figured I should have some. Minimum 4.2 stars and 50 reviews, with two deliberate exceptions I will flag when I get to them. I checked who was actually shipping each item, because a third-party seller with nine units left is a different risk than something fulfilled by Amazon. I opened every color variant, not just the one the algorithm showed me first. And I capped myself at $350 per item.

This is the piece the whole apartment hangs off, and it is the one I am most confident about.

Half moon top, a sculptural U-shaped curved base, solid walnut. Arhaus makes consoles in almost exactly this language and they start well north of a thousand dollars. This one is $369.99.

The number that sold me was the depth. It is 11.8 inches deep, which means it actually fits in a narrow hallway without turning it into an obstacle course. A lot of consoles at this price are 14 or 15 inches and they eat the walkway.

Here is my honest caveat, and it is a real one. This listing has exactly one review. I bought it anyway for two reasons: it is solid wood rather than veneer over particleboard, and with solid wood you can read the construction in the photos in a way you cannot with a laminated piece. The curve of that base is cut, not molded. If it had been an upholstered item with one review I would have walked. Shipping is also slow, four to five days to dispatch and a delivery window that runs to early October.

The living room

This is the one I went back and forth on the longest, and I want to be straight about why.

As a dining room sideboard, it reads more farmhouse than Arhaus. The paneled doors are not their vocabulary. But at $258.99 for a two-door solid-look cabinet with 4.3 stars across 132 reviews, and put in a living room against a wall with a lamp and a stack of books on top rather than in a dining room pretending to be a buffet, it does the job I needed it to do. It brings dark wood mass into a room that otherwise has none, and mass is half of what makes a space feel furnished.

Placement is doing a lot of work here. I would not have bought it for the dining room.

Watch the stock on this one. It was down to nine units when I ordered and it ships from a third-party seller, not Amazon. Search for the wood accent storage cabinet in dark wood.

BEROXII Round Coffee Table

Round, 31.5 inches across, 17.7 inches high, two tiers, thick rounded legs in a warm walnut finish. 4.6 stars, Amazon's Choice, and it ships from Amazon, which after the last two items was a relief.

A word on what this is and is not. At 28.7 pounds it is not solid hardwood, and the listing does not pretend otherwise. Walnut here is a finish, not a species. For $149.99 that is the correct trade, and the reason I am comfortable with it is that a wood-finished piece that is honest about being wood-finished ages fine. It develops scuffs. It does not flake.

The rounded leg profile is what makes it work. Square legs at this price look like flat-pack. Look for the round 2-tier coffee table in walnut.

ALMA Tall Floor Vase

Eighteen inches, textured white ceramic, meant for dried branches or pampas. 4.4 stars across 345 reviews, which is the deepest review pool of anything I bought.

Floor vessels are one of the most Arhaus things you can put in a room and they are also the cheapest way to fix a corner that feels empty. This one is $59.99 and it does more for a living room than a $300 piece of furniture would.

Stock on this listing runs thin. It was down to a single unit when I checked and the page said more were on the way, so it seems to cycle rather than disappear. Search for the white tall floor vase for pampas grass.

The bedroom

PHI VILLA Solid Wood Bed Frame

Solid wood, hand-woven rattan headboard panel, adjustable headboard height, no box spring needed. King size for $305.99, with 4.6 stars across 58 reviews and a Safer Chemicals badge, which for something you sleep on eight hours a night is not nothing.

I will name the compromise. The crown of the headboard has a soft scalloped curve that reads a touch more French country than Arhaus does. On its own I would call it the wrong bed. Surrounded by the reeded oak nightstands and the black and walnut lamp, it settles down and reads as warm and slightly rustic instead, which is where Arhaus lives anyway.

Getting a king solid wood frame under $310 is the kind of thing that does not usually happen, and for a couple who are home half the year and want that half to be comfortable, this was the easiest yes on the list. Look for the solid wood king bed frame with adjustable headboard.

RECHHX Reeded Oak Nightstand

Best value on the entire list, and it is not close.

Sixty-nine dollars. Reeded drawer fronts, a reeded plinth base, slim brass bar pulls, softly rounded corners, light oak. 4.6 stars and Amazon's Choice.

Reeding is one of those details Arhaus uses constantly and almost nobody dupes correctly, because most cheap versions do it as a printed texture. Here it is a cut profile and you can see the shadow it throws in the photos. The plinth base matters too. It sits on the floor rather than on legs, which is what keeps it from reading mid-century.

The listing calls it farmhouse. Ignore the listing. Buy two, put one on each side, and that is $140 for the pair. Search for the reeded oak 2 drawer nightstand.

EDISHINE Table Lamp

The best-reviewed thing I bought. 4.6 stars across 359 reviews, Amazon's Choice, ships from Amazon, $55.99.

Solid walnut pole, beige linen drum shade, pull chain, 21.65 inches tall.

Now, the part that actually matters, because this lamp comes in three finishes and two of them are wrong.

The gold version is polished brass and it is the cheapest of the three at $49.99, which is exactly why most people buy it. Skip it. Polished brass with a wood pole reads mid-century modern, not Arhaus. The silver is brushed nickel, which is worse, because cool-toned metal fights every warm neutral in the room.

Buy the black. Matte black base, matte black collar, and it lets the walnut pole and the linen shade be the whole story. It is six dollars more and it is a different lamp. Search for the mid century table lamp with pull chain in black.

Lyeec Ceramic Vase

Highest rated item on the list at 4.7 stars across 207 reviews, and it costs $26.99.

Unglazed white ceramic with a rough, sandy texture and two small handles set high on the shoulder. That is the amphora shape, and it is one of the oldest forms in the book, which is why it never reads trendy.

The texture is the whole point. A smooth glossy white vase at this price looks like a gift shop. This one looks like something you picked up somewhere. Look for the ceramic vase with 2 handles in white.

The work corner

Ollega Mid Century Desk Chair

This is the one place I broke my own rules, and I would rather tell you than have you notice.

Arhaus does not put anything on a black five-spoke base with casters. Full stop. This chair does exactly that, and by the test I laid out at the top of this article it should have been an instant no.

I bought it anyway. Here is my reasoning. A desk chair is the one piece in a home where comfort has to beat silhouette, and these two are home for maybe five months a year, which means when they are home that corner gets used hard. A beautiful fixed-leg chair you cannot sit in for four hours is a worse purchase than an ordinary chair you can. The cognac faux leather and the low, soft profile are speaking the right language even if the base is not.

Two more things you should know. At 4.1 stars it is the lowest rated item on this list, though it has 200 or more sold in the past month, so people are buying it and mostly keeping it. And it is faux leather, not leather, at $69.99, which is the honest price for what it is.

If the base bothers you, casters are replaceable. Check the stem diameter on the listing and swap them for wood-tone or brass rollerblade casters for around twenty dollars. 2 Arhaus dupes I skipped

This is the part I would read first if I were you.

The swivel dining chairs, because of a color problem nobody warns you about

I had these in my cart. Beech wood legs, linen upholstery, soft rounded back, swivel. The shape was exactly right and at around $123 a chair it was a fair price.

Then I looked at what was actually available.

Beige, the only colorway that belonged in this apartment, was down to a single unit in the set of two. The set of four, which was the only size with real stock, does not come in beige at all. What is left in stock is green, mustard, and grey.

This is the trap, and I have not seen anyone write about it. On a multi-variant Amazon furniture listing, the neutral colorway sells out first, because that is what the most people want. What is still sitting there is sitting there because fewer people wanted it. When you open a listing and see In Stock in green letters, that tells you something about the warehouse. It tells you nothing about your room.

So the rule I would hand anyone shopping dupes: if the color you need is gone, the item is gone. Do not buy what is left just because it is what is left. You will spend $480 to put a saturated green chair into a room built out of oak, linen, and walnut, and you will notice it every single day.

The travertine look coffee table, because of one word in the listing

There is a 47-inch waterfall-edge coffee table on Amazon for $159.99 that looks, in photos, genuinely like the travertine plinth tables Arhaus sells for well into four figures. The silhouette is right. The styling photo is beautiful.

It is a wooden table with a stone pattern printed on it, and the listing tells you so if you read it.

The title says Travertine Look and it says Wood. The color option is not called Travertine. It is called Travertine Pattern. That single word is the entire tell.

Here is how to check any listing like this in about fifteen seconds.

Read the words. Look, style, effect, pattern, inspired. Real stone sellers never use those words, because they do not have to.

Check the weight. A 47-inch travertine table weighs two hundred pounds or more and takes two adults to move. If the spec sheet says fifty or sixty pounds, you are looking at wood or MDF.

Check the price against physics. Real travertine at that size starts around $800 even on Amazon, because the material costs what it costs and it has to be shipped freight. A hundred and sixty dollars is not a bargain, it is a different product.

This is exactly why I put a walnut coffee table in that living room instead of a travertine one. If real stone is not in the budget, honest wood beats dishonest stone every time. A wood table that looks like wood ages. A wood table pretending to be stone just starts chipping at the corners and telling on itself.

Prices move, so treat these as what I paid rather than a guarantee.

How to style Arhaus dupes so they don't read cheap

Buying the right pieces is maybe sixty percent of it. The rest is what you do after the boxes are open.

Keep the palette to three woods at most. In this apartment it is light oak, walnut, and the dark cabinet. Any more than that and the room stops looking collected and starts looking accumulated. The three-wood limit is the same restraint the rest of warm minimalism runs on, and it is the easiest rule to break without noticing you have.

Do not match your metals to your wood. The matte black lamp against the light oak nightstand is doing more work than a matching brass lamp would. Contrast reads deliberate.
