It's one of the two pieces going to my boyfriend's parents.

The listing describes the door panels as hollow carved solid wood, and the photos back it up: the floral pattern has real depth and shadow. The frame and legs are solid fir. The body is MDF, which I'd rather tell you now than have you discover with a screwdriver. The panel is what you look at, and the panel is the real thing.

It comes in antique blue, a darker finish and green. Blue isn't a color I usually choose, but on a carved, painted cabinet the color is part of the look. But mid-century modern means clean lines and tapered legs, close to the opposite of Anthropologie's carved, layered look. The title says solid wood, the Material field just says wood, and the bullets describe solid wood plus a metal frame. The storage space inside is under 10 inches tall.

Painted doors on an industrial frame is one of the most common tricks on Amazon, and it's the fastest way to spot a piece that borrowed the color palette and nothing else. The painted cabinets that actually read as Anthropologie stand on wood legs. Compare it with the carved cabinet above: fir frame, turned legs, real carving, and $20 less.

This is how I actually use the brand. I don't want an Anthropologie room. I want a mostly quiet room with one or two things in it that have some personality.

Repeat one color once. If the rug is dark green, bring that green back in the throw or a plant and nowhere else. One repeated color makes a busy piece look planned.
